Cosy season is here! We love autumn at Longtide Studio, it's the perfect excuse to hibernate a little, snuggle up and unwind a bit after the hectic rushing around, outdoor living and the feeling of pressure to enjoy every bit of sunshine of the summer.
We've come up with the ultimate guide to getting cosy, so you can make the most of it this autumn...
Warming Up
Nothing feels better than a good walk - getting a bit damp and chilly and then coming home and getting warm and toasty. Those glowing rosy cheeks, pink nose and chilly hands wrapped around a hot drink feel so good after an outdoor adventure.
Comfort in a Cup
It's time to treat yourself to a new favourite mug. Go wild, it doesn't have to match the rest of your mug cupboard, get one that calls to you. Then make your perfect autumn drink, whether it's a hot toddy, hot chocolate, cuppa or a chai latte. Here's our favourite recipe for the perfect triple hot chocolate:
- Add a cup of whole milk to a saucepan and stir in 50g of chopped milk chocolate, 30g of chopped dark chocolate and melt together until hot. Pour in to your mug and top with whipped cream and white chocolate buttons. Sinful, but delicious!
Autumn Touches
Really embrace the change of seasons by bringing a little of autumn inside your home. Go for a walk in the woods and collect some autumn leaves for a collage, arrange some branches and twinkle lights in a vase, add a handmade wooden sign from our autumn collection or make a wreath for your front door.
Soft Light
One of our favourite parts of autumn is it means candle season is back! In the summer the windows are open so much so we tend to only use unscented candles, as otherwise the aroma is lost! But as the nights start to draw in we treat ourselves to our favourite candles (we love Illumine Candles which are made down the road from us in Exeter) in some sweet and cosy scents and enjoy the yummy smells filling our home and studio. Scented candles not your thing? Try some warm white twinkle lights for a cosy feel.
Snuggle Day
Pick a rainy afternoon and have a snuggle day! Get out your cosiest pj's, pull on some thick fluffy socks, grab some snacks and a blanket and cuddle up on the sofa and watch some guilty pleasure TV! From Gilmore Girls to Hocus Pocus, there are plenty of autumn classics to work your way through.
Outdoor Cooking
Cooking outdoors isn't just for summer! We love cooking outside all year round and whether it's an autumn BBQ, a slow cooked stew over an open fire or pizza in the Ooni, everything tastes better when it's cooked and eaten outdoors. Grab a jumper, pull on some warm boots and bring out your inner cowboy cookout!
